THE PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF BOTSWANA (PSB) is the professional body for pharmacists in Botswana. Founded in 1988, the PSB is driven by an elected council comprising a president, 8 council members and the immediate past president. The membership comprises mostly of pharmacists practicing in the community, hospital, regulatory, research, academic, marketing/sales and distribution sectors. The PSB is a non-profit organization with its primary objectives being to represent, promote and develop the profession of pharmacy. The Pharmaceutical Society of Botswana represents the interests of pharmacists to the government, other health professionals and the general public in a number of different forums. It also provides a forum through which knowledge and experience in pharmacy can be shared by organizing and promoting conferences, training and other forms of continuing medical education for pharmacy cadre in Botswana. The Pharmaceutical Society of Botswana aids in the development of a partnership between the private and public medical sectors in order to enhance the access to pharmaceutical services for all persons in Botswana. The PSB has also been involved in the drafting and periodic revision of laws regulating the pharmacy practice in Botswana. As the voice of the custodians of medicines, the PSB helps ensure that the pharmacy profession's contribution to the health sector is valued.
