Bringing about positive, lasting change is an even more extensive exercise. The foundation of lasting change is founded in the conveyance of trust. As the adage goes, actions do indeed speak louder than words. The greatest trust that can be bestowed upon someone is to instil the belief that there is no such thing as a lack of resources, but rather, a lack of resourcefulness. We live in a country brimming with pride and ambition. Our forefathers weathered many a great storm to build a fruitful country filled with unique people who stand together to form a powerful, proudly African nation. Each day we are reminded of the opportunistic entrepreneurs that try and try again to create something from nothing. When we examine the situation more closely, we realise that it epitomises the question of what came first, the chicken or the egg. How do we build a business without resources? How do we acquire resources without a business? Traditional financial institutions are by their very nature precluded from providing finance to small businesses without these businesses being able to meet specific lending criteria. Adequate security, a balance sheet, trade history, an established business - these are all things that banks, and other institutions require before a business can apply for establishment or expansion finance. It begs the question; why is all this red tape and regulation necessary? How can we ensure that our most brilliant minds and our most resilient individuals are financially included and economically active? We believe that the key to a truly transformative progression is to grant those that deserve it a fighting chance, and to walk hand-in-hand with those who are willing to put their hands to work. We believe in abolishing the barriers created by a lack of finance and by empowering individuals to build organisations that uplift their communities and that create sustainable change.
